Job Description
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
2-5 years of experience in public accounting within the last 5 years with a focus on tax compliance.
CPA or EA license or candidate for license preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Proficiency in tax preparation software (UltraTax preferred).
Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) & Microsoft Office programs.
Strong understanding of accounting principles.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Excellent attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to client service excellence.
Informing clients or employers on the tax preparation process.
Collecting relevant financial records, including pay stubs and income statements.
Monitor, review and verify accounting records and transactions.
Review and analyze reports for accuracy in the preparation of financial statements.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, agency rules and regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
Examine accounts, records and compute taxes owed according to current laws and regulations.
Keeping abreast of current IRS and state and local tax rules and regulations and ensuring full compliance.
Preparation of federal and state tax forms and returns.
Assist in the development of financial projections and forecasts.
Ability to provide QuickBooks support to clients.
Posting necessary year-end adjusting journal entries.
Understanding and preparing bank reconciliations.
Prepare documentation for external auditors.
Advising clients about tax liabilities and other tax-related matters.
Building customer relationships to promote and expand the business.
